First time user for VMware having issues, Please help.

I have uninstalled and re-installed vmware player many times now. I am unable to get VMware player to run on my laptop.

I have reviewed the documentation on here and watched a few YouTube videos and I am unable to get it to work.

My System

I have a MSI GT 70

Windows 8 Media Pro OS.

Intel I7 core-3630QM

DDR 3 16 GB memorey

I keep getting the Transport (VMDB error - 44 ( The VMware Authorization service is not running)

I have been going to my local settings inside windows 8 an turned on and off the service for VMware Authorization only to have the same error pop up.

I have like I said uninstalled all the files and folders and re-installed VMware and re-created the files ( yes, I rebooted each time I did this )

The Windows 8 system logs shows where VMware player hangs but refers me to VM ware for a solution

Here are the things I need to know.

Is there anything else I can try  to get this to work ?

Should I spend the $49.00 bucks and get the paid version of Vmware ?

Please advise
