Re: Recovering a lost partition on VMFS-5 volume with GPT

So it is highly possible the disk /dev/disks/t10.ATA_____WDC_WD6000HLHX2D01JJPV0_______________________WD2DWXG1EB0DXH92 has been used as a scratch partition by the ESXi host it is attached to.

By design ESXi  creates a vmkcore & scratch partition on a "blank" disk with no PT info.

 

You can run the below commands to verify if that is the case:

 

vmkfstools -Ph  /vmfs/volumes/51c06671-19f64284-02eb-001b21a22f7d/

 

esxcfg-dumppart -l


If the above points to the problem disk then it has been formatted. You might want to engage a 3rd party data recovery team - VMware KB: Data recovery services for data not recoverable by VMware Technical Support
